Deepa Shakya

Deepa Shakya presently serves as the Global Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Advisor at Mercy Corps, focusing on advancing gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) outcomes through high-quality program design and the growth of the agency’s GESI portfolio. Prior experience includes leadership roles at DAI, where responsibilities encompassed forming strategic partnerships, managing thematic activities related to the private sector, and providing technical assistance on GESI issues. Deepa has held various consultancy roles with organizations such as The Asia Foundation, Mott MacDonald, and the World Bank Group, contributing to GESI strategy development and implementation, conducting analytical studies, and facilitating capacity-building initiatives. With an academic background featuring multiple masters degrees in Development Studies and Business Studies, Deepa brings a strong foundation in project management and evaluation to the field of gender equality and social inclusion.
