Mark Dawson

Mark Dawson is a Senior Climate Scientist and Scientific Software Developer at the Met Office since July 2023. Previously, Mark served as a Software Developer at Hiyield from March 2022 to July 2023, specializing in user-centered websites and digital products. From March 2018 to October 2021, Mark worked at Mott MacDonald as an Environmental Modeller (MCIWEM), focusing on water resources and flooding, with a growing interest in project management and policy. Mark's earlier roles include a Data Analyst at inspiratia, where responsibilities included database curation and data visualization, and as a Coastal Modeller at ABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd, where Mark built and calibrated hydrodynamic and sediment models. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography from the University of Plymouth, an MRes in Ocean Science from the University of Southampton, and certificates in water quality and flood risk management from The Open University and Brunel University of London, respectively.
