Karen McEwen Gentry

Karen McEwen Gentry, Ed. D, currently serves as a Field Instructor and Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, where the focus is on developing standards-based practices in teaching and assessment for interns. Previously, Gentry held the position of University Student Teacher Coordinator at Central Michigan University, overseeing clinical placements for teacher candidates, and worked as a College Success Coach for Project Upward Bound at Oakland University. Additionally, Gentry has extensive experience in Detroit Public Schools, including roles as Principal, Academic Engagement Administrator, and High School Assistant Principal, where responsibilities encompassed student support, professional development, and curriculum leadership. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University and various degrees in counseling and education from Wayne State University and Tuskegee University.
