Vanessa Shannon

Vanessa Shannon has worked in a variety of roles in the past 28 years. Vanessa began their career in 1994 as a Cryptologic Linguist - Korean in the United States Air Force. In 2012, they served as an Editorial Assistant Intern at Alligator Press. From 2013 to 2020, Vanessa worked in various positions at the University of Utah, starting as an Administrative Assistant at the John A. Moran Eye Center and then as an Executive Assistant at the School of Medicine. During this time, they also worked as a Managing Editor at SAGE Publication from 2015 to 2020. Currently, Vanessa is the Head of Content & Editor in Chief at Microbiome Labs.

Vanessa Shannon attended the Defense Language Institute from 1995 to 1997, where they earned a Diploma in Korean Language. Vanessa then attended the University of Utah from 2009 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. Finally, they returned to the University of Utah from 2018 to 2021, where they earned a Master of Arts in English Literature.
