POSITION SUMMARY: Under guidance from more senior service engineers, you will be trained to perform factory repairs, preventive maintenance, and technical support for the Micromeritics family of particle characterization instruments. This role would be attractive to anyone with a technical education in electromechanical systems. This role will allow you to gain hands-on experience at headquarters and lead to field-based positions or in-house technical support roles. Traveling to customers may occur frequently within the United States.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains Micromeritics instrumentation either in-house or at customer site.
  • Provides help desk telephone support to customers.
  • Prepares detailed service reports and expense reports.
  • Coordinates travel to customer sites to install, repair or maintain customer equipment.
  • Maintains an accurate accounting of all parts and tools used in the repair, maintenance or installation of instruments.
  • Consult with Technical Support Engineers or Field Service Engineers on problems
  • Some instruments are large and you should be able to lift, push, pull and turn up to 50 pounds

EDUCATION: Two years technical or STEM degree and/or education/experience equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in electro-mechanical systems testing and troubleshooting fits in well with this position.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to operate test and calibration equipment.
  • Intermediate PC skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematic diagrams and calibration procedures.
  • A mind for troubleshooting/deductive reasoning.

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License Required

  • 25% Required
