Richard Rinkema

Richard Rinkema is currently a Senior Corporate Counsel at Microsoft, specializing in competition and innovation law and policy issues, including platform technologies, intellectual property, and the impacts of big data and AI. They have extensive experience in competition law, having previously served as Chief Counsel for Asia Competition Law & Policy at Microsoft from 2018 to 2020 and as a Senior Director in the same field at Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd. from 2015 to 2018. Richard's legal career began with roles in prestigious law firms, including Heller Ehrman LLP and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where they focused on global competition and antitrust litigation. Richard holds a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, a BA in History from San Francisco State University, and a degree in Asian Studies from Dartmouth College.
