David Nogales is the Chief Information Officer of the Life Science business of Merck. In this role, he leads the global Information Technology (IT) team to define and advance the technology strategy and drive digital transformation. As the CIO, Nogales is a principal advisor to the Life Science CEO with regard to the astute use of digital and information technology to advance the company’s goals.
Prior to his current role as CIO, Nogales led the business’ Connected Lab Promise Venture, driving the creation of a digital product portfolio. Before that, he held several leadership roles in the IT and healthcare fields, including leading the setup of the NEXT ERP Program Management office at the Life Science business. Nogales began working for Merck in 2012 as head of the president’s office for the Consumer Health business sector. Prior to joining the Life Science business in 2016, he led research and development for the Consumer Health business of Merck in the Americas and southern Europe.
Nogales has held leadership roles at McKinsey & Company and Publicis Health earlier in his career. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the planning, development and delivery of technical solutions that address the needs of his customers in support of their missions.
Nogales earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Heidelberg University in Germany. He graduated from Babson College with a management degree in 2019. Additionally, Nogales holds a variety of certifications, including the SAFe® 4 Aglist certification
