Emma Cheng has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles.
Emma started their career as a Financial Internal Controls Co-op Student at Hydro One in 2011, where they reviewed employee expense reports and developed a new sampling technique for compliance purposes. Emma then worked as an Accounting Analyst Co-op Student at Scotiabank in 2013, where they tested and implemented a new corporate G/L system.
In 2014, Emma joined Young & Rubicam Group as an Accountant, responsible for financial reporting and analysis for multiple business units. Emma later transitioned to the role of Business Analyst, where they supported budgeting processes and improved efficiency.
In 2018, Emma worked as a Consultant at Pierry Inc., A Wunderman Company, where they aided in setting up financial processes for a recently acquired startup. Emma led reporting, implemented new controls, and supervised staff remotely.
From 2017 to 2019, Emma was employed by the City of Toronto, initially as a Financial Planning Analyst, assisting with budget oversight and long-term fiscal planning. Emma later took on the role of Acting Senior Financial Planning Analyst, where they supported a corporate division and added new responsibilities to their portfolio.
Most recently, Emma began working at MiQ in 2019 as an Accounting Manager, overseeing financial operations. Emma has since been promoted to the role of Controller.
Emma Cheng obtained a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) with Co-op option from Brock University from the years 2009 to 2013. Emma obtained their CPA certification from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario) in December 2016.
