Edward Szekeres Jr

Edward Szekeres Jr has extensive work experience in various roles related to informatics, software development, and project management.

Starting in 1988, they worked as a Clinical Microbiology Technician at Strong Memorial Hospital, where they gained experience in all aspects of clinical Microbiology lab operations.

After that, they transitioned to the role of Contract Technician at Eastman Kodak in 1989, where they were involved in quality control of production and research chemicals.

In 1991, Edward joined the University of Rochester Medical School as a PhD student. During this time, they focused on studying DNA damage and repair mechanisms.

Following the completion of their PhD, Edward joined CuraGen Corporation as the Manager of Clinical Informatics & Biometrics in 2000. In this role, they led a team responsible for managing clinical and safety data, including database management, medical coding, and system validation.

From 2006 to 2010, Edward worked at 454 Life Sciences as the Manager of Production Informatics. Edward led a team of informatics scientists and established an enterprise data warehouse for tracking sequencing-related information.

In 2010, Edward joined PerkinElmer as the Director of Software Development, DNA Services. In this role, they led the informatics/technology team and played a crucial role in establishing a new business unit.

Currently, Edward is working as the Senior Director of Software Development at Mission Bio, starting in 2022. In this role, they oversee software development initiatives for the company.

Throughout their career, Edward has demonstrated expertise in software development, informatics, project management, and data analysis.

From 1991 to 1999, they attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. During this time, they earned both a Master of Science (M.S.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the field of Biophysics.

Between 1986 and 1988, they attended Monroe Community College, where they earned a degree as an ASCP Certified Medical Lab Technician (M.L.T.).

From 1980 to 1984, they attended Cornell University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Edward majored in Neurobiology & Behavior and Bioengineering.
