Job Title: Custodian and Building Coordinator
Department: Facilities
Reports To: Head of School
Employee Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Daily Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm (30 minute break)
Job Summary
The Custodian/Building Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role combines the duties of a custodian with additional responsibilities related to overseeing the building's daily operations, ensuring all systems are functioning properly, and coordinating maintenance activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in custodial work or building maintenance.
Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Basic understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing ladders and standing for extended periods.
Relevant certifications in building maintenance or custodial work are a plus.
Working Conditions
Work is conducted in a school environment, with children as young as 8 weeks-8th grade.
The role requires physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
It may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment noise.
