Ricardo Oliveira

Junior Scientist - Bioprocess Development at Mosa Meat

Ricardo Oliveira's work experience begins in 2019 with an internship at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), where they worked as an Internship Trainee in the Pluripotency for Organ Regeneration research group. During this internship, they focused on developing biomaterial formulations for 3D bioprinting and optimizing bioprinting protocols for generating renal structures from human pluripotent stem cells. Ricardo'ssupervisor was Prof. Nuria Montserrat.

In the same year, Ricardo also worked as an MSc Thesis student at the Bioengineered 3D Microenvironments research group in i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde. Ricardo'sthesis focused on creating an advanced 3D in vitro model to study the crosstalk between epithelial-fibroblastic cells in breast tissue. Ricardo'stasks included microextrusion printing of 3D alginate scaffolds, establishment of 3D cellular cultures, and downstream analysis of the model. Prof. Cristina Barrias supervised him during this period.

Most recently, Ricardo joined Mosa Meat in 2021 as a Biomaterials Technician. In 2022, they were promoted to the role of Junior Scientist. The information regarding their specific responsibilities and accomplishments in these roles is not provided.

Ricardo Oliveira obtained their Master's degree in Biotechnology from two different institutions. From 2014 to 2020, they studied at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, and during the same period, they also pursued their Master's degree at the ICBAS- Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences. In April 2021, Ricardo obtained the Pedagogical Skills Certificate (CCP) from IEFP, and in February 2021, they received a certification in Algae Biotechnology from UC San Diego.
