Lou Russell has a diverse work experience spanning over 30 years. Lou started their career in 1982 as the Manager of IT Training at Ameritech and later became an Adjunct Professor at Purdue University. In 1987, Lou joined McDonnell Douglas as a Consultant and Trainer in IT systems development methodology. Lou specialized in data analysis and modeling during their time there. In 1988, they founded Russell Martin & Associates, where they served as the Queen until 2017. In their role, Lou helped organizations achieve their full potential through speaking, training, and writing. Currently, they are the Managing Practice Director/Learning at Moser Consulting, where they continue to inspire improvement in leadership, project management, and individual growth.

Lou Russell's education history is as follows:

Lou Russell attended Purdue University, where they studied Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services starting in 1995. They did not obtain a degree from Purdue University.

Prior to attending Purdue University, Lou Russell pursued a Master of Science in Instruction Systems Technology at Indiana University Bloomington from 1988 to 1990.

Before their time at Indiana University Bloomington, Lou Russell earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Purdue University. They studied from 1975 to 1979 to obtain this degree.

In addition to their formal education, Lou Russell has obtained several certifications. In 2015, they completed the Target Training International (TTI) Value Added Associate certification offered by Target Training International, Ltd. In 2014, they obtained a certification called "A Beginner's Guide to Irrational Behavior" from Coursera. In 2010, they earned a certification from The Learning Guild. In 2005, Lou Russell obtained two certifications: one from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and another from Training Magazine in the field of Training.
