Roderick Howard has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations. Roderick'smost recent role is as the Director of Mission Operations at Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) since April 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Regional Executive Director at MADD from March 2021 to April 2023.
Before joining MADD, Howard worked at Piedmont Family YMCA, where they held the position of Vice President of Community Engagement/Executive Director from June 2019 to March 2021. Roderick also served as the Executive Director of Brooks Family YMCA from June 2019 to January 2020.
Howard has a long history with the YMCA, and in the past, they held the role of Executive Director at YMCA of NWNC. In this capacity, they supervised all Youth Development Programs, logistics, and staffing for the Child Care Services Branch in Forsyth County. Roderick had a budget of 2.8M+ and managed a team of 8 full-time/part-time employees. Roderick also provided indirect supervision to over 200+ staff. Additionally, Howard served as an After School Upgrade Mentor for Y-USA, leading and coaching multiple YMCA's through the After School Upgrade Process.
Prior to becoming the Executive Director, Howard held various positions at YMCA of NWNC, including Associate Executive Director and Senior Program Director, Child Care Services. Overall, Howard has extensive experience in leadership, program development, and community engagement in both nonprofit and youth development sectors.
Roderick Howard earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Winston-Salem State University in the period of 2006 to 2012. Following that, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Management and Leadership from Liberty University between the years 2012 and 2014. Furthermore, Roderick obtained a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in the year 2021.
