Julia J. began their work experience in 1994 as an intern at the Export Small Business Development Center. In 1998, they worked as an intern at the Council for Excellence in Government. Julia then joined the Motion Picture Association of America in 1999 as a Coordinator for Worldwide Home Entertainment.

Their career at the Motion Picture Association started in 2003 and they held several roles, including Manager for Theatrical and Home Entertainment, Director for Worldwide Strategic Policy, and Director for Worldwide Research & Information Analysis. In 2010, they were promoted to Vice President for Worldwide Research & Information Analysis, a position they currently hold.
