Sean M. Messenger has a diverse work experience spanning various roles within different companies. Sean M. currently holds the position of Principal Engineer and Team Lead at Motional. Previously, they worked at May Mobility as a Senior Robotics Engineer, focusing on perception and simulation, and as a Robotics Engineer, specializing in autonomy and perception. Sean also worked as an Independent Contractor for the MHSAA, serving as a registered volleyball referee for middle and high school matches. Sean M. gained research experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Michigan, focusing on autonomous multi-agent robotics and localization methodologies. Additionally, they worked as a Head Shop Proctor and Student Researcher at Harvey Mudd College, where they facilitated safe equipment usage and conducted research on decentralized multi-robot motion planning. Sean also gained industry experience as an SDE Intern at Amazon, contributing to international country expansion projects, and as a Nuclear Particle Interaction Clinic Researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, contributing to particle interaction model calibration. Sean M. Messenger has a Master of Science degree in Robotics from the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School, obtained between 2015 and 2017. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Double Major) from Harvey Mudd College from 2011 to 2015. Their high school education was completed at Tahoma Senior High School, earning a Diploma in General Education from 2008 to 2011. In addition, they have an SSI Diving Certification from the Scuba Schools of America, obtained in 2013.
