Jim Castelaz

Jim Castelaz is an accomplished engineer and entrepreneur, currently serving as the Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Motiv Electric Trucks since January 2024, where Jim focuses on guiding medium-duty truck and bus fleets toward energy independence. Prior to this role, Jim founded Motiv Power Systems in August 2009 and led as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Executive Officer, specializing in the development of Electric-Powered Intelligent Chassis to advance fleet electrification. Jim's earlier experience includes serving as Chief Architect at Adura Systems, where innovative technology for hybrid trucks and buses was developed, as well as academic pursuits and research roles in radiation sensing and semiconductor studies. Jim holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Economics from Harvey Mudd College.
