Tara de Montfort has a diverse work experience that spans over several decades. Tara began their career in 1979 as a Tax & Company Secretarial Consultant at Ernst & Young, providing advice on Companies Act and Income Tax requirements, as well as handling salary preparation and accounting tasks. From 1989 to 1992, they worked as an Administration Manager at Guidehouse PLC. At London Underground - CrossRail from 1992 to 1996, they served as a Project Services Manager, focusing on design and development of procurement databases, safety document preparation, and space planning. From 1997 to 2000, they worked as a Procurement Analyst at Invensys, where they gathered and analyzed data for major quotation offers and improved office information systems efficiency. In 2001, they joined MovePlan as a Global Support Executive and was later promoted to the position of Global Support Director in September 2019. Additionally, they worked as a People & Conservation Intern at South African National Parks from 2005 to 2006.

Tara de Montfort completed a BSc in Environmental Studies from The Open University from 2002 to 2009. Tara also obtained a Registered Practitioner certification in PRINCE2 from Sure Skills in 2007. In 1997, they attended Trinity College London and earned a Cert TESOL in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Lastly, from 1971 to 1977, they completed their Leaving Certificate at Newtown School.
