Owen R. O'Shea

Marine Research Program Manager at MSC Foundation

Owen R. O'Shea Ph.D. is a marine conservation biologist with extensive experience in marine research and environmental education. As the Marine Research Program Manager at MSC Foundation since May 2022, Owen focuses on developing and managing a multi-institutional initiative to restore coral reefs through a 'super coral' program in The Bahamas. Prior to this role, Owen founded and served as Executive Director and Principal Research Scientist at The Centre for Ocean Research and Education Foundation Inc. (CORE), promoting community involvement in marine research. Previous positions include Research Associate at Cape Eleuthera Institute, where Owen studied shark ecology, and freelance Marine Ecologist with Marine Solutions. Owen holds a PhD in Stingray Ecology and Biology from Murdoch University and has degrees in Marine Ecology and Marine and Tropical Biology from James Cook University.
