Development Coordinator at Music Institute of Chicago

Luis Romero is the Development Coordinator at Music Institute of Chicago. Prior to that, they were a Program Representative at Illinois Arts Council from August 2001 to July 2016. Luis has also been a Freelance Translator and a Freelance Grant Writer. From September 1995 to September 1998, they were the Grant Writer/Principal for an educational non-profit group that serves an area of extreme poverty. From October 1992 to August 1999, they were the Program Officer for a grants program that supports public humanities projects in Puerto Rico. Luis was also the Assistant for Cultural Programs at Office of the Governor of Puerto Rico's Aide for Education and Culture from October 1990 to October 1992. Lastly, they were a Staff Writer at Office of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Communications Department from November 1988 to May 1989.

Luis Romero is a painter and drawer who studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Luis holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Studio Art from the institution. Luis also has a Certificate in Introductory Course Visual Arts from Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas - Academia San Carlos, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy, Literature & Film from Boston University.
