Dorinda (Shoemaker) Moellering has a wealth of experience in the field of flow cytometry and cell sorting. Dorinda (Shoemaker) began their career in 2003 as an Undergraduate Summer Volunteer Intern at UCSD - The Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the Marine Biology Research Division. In 2004, they moved to The Scripps Research Institute as a Research Technician in the Molecular and Experimental Medicine, Cell Biology Division. In 2005, they became a Graduate Student Researcher at Cal State San Marcos. From 2007 to 2008, they were a Staff Research Associate II in the Marine Biology Research Division at UCSD - The Scripps Institution of Oceanography. From 2008 to 2013, they were a Senior Research Associate at Synthetic Genomics, where they managed an isolation team, conducted pathway engineering in yeast, cyanobacteria and diatoms, and developed high-throughput assays for strains with enhanced photosynthetic traits. From 2013 to 2022, they were at Cibus, where they led a team of 7 across three cross-functional groups, served as flow cytometry core lead, and was responsible for instrument selection, onboarding, SOP development, training and workflow integration of 2 analyzers and 3 cell sorters. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist and Application Scientist at NanoCellect Biomedical, Inc.

Dorinda (Shoemaker) Moellering obtained their B.S. in Biological Sciences - Marine Biology from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo between 2001 and 2004. Dorinda (Shoemaker) then went on to earn their M.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from California State University San Marcos between 2005 and 2007.
