Dr James Berwick

Dr James Berwick has a diverse work experience in various leadership roles within the chemical industry. Dr James currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Nanosurf, where they lead a team of Sales, Marketing, Service, and application scientists globally. Dr James is also a Director at Nanosurf UK Ltd. In addition, Dr Berwick is a Non-Executive Board Member at OQEMA ApS and Chemark Aps.

Prior to their current roles, Dr Berwick held positions at OQEMA Group as the European Group Director of Specialty Chemicals and Non-Executive Board Member at OQEMA Lithuania. Dr James was also the Global Senior Procurement Lead at Clariant and held multiple roles at Syngenta, including Global Technology and Sourcing Manager and Global Procurement Manager.

Throughout their career, Dr Berwick has demonstrated expertise in sales management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, mergers and acquisitions, and business development within the chemical industry. Dr James has a strong focus on sustainable and value-driven approaches in procurement and supplier relationships.

Dr. James Berwick earned their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Clinical Engineering from the University of Liverpool in 2000. Dr James went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biophysics at the University of Nottingham from 2000 to 2003. In 2009, they completed a program in Negotiation Dynamics at INSEAD. Dr. Berwick later obtained a Master's Degree (MA) in Industry Management from the University of Warwick - WMG, completing their studies from 2013 to 2016.
