Stephen Summers started their work experience in 1990 as the Director of the Office of Crashworthiness Research at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). stephen also held the role of Chief of the Structures and Restraints Research Division at NHTSA, where they managed research programs for regulating the safety of vehicle structure and restraints. In addition, they were responsible for overseeing research programs for the safety of alternative fuel vehicles. Their tenure at NHTSA lasted until May 2020.
Stephen Summers earned their Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, where they attended from 1984 to 1987.
