James Underberg

James Underberg is a seasoned medical professional with extensive experience in lipidology and internal medicine. Currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Attending Physician at New York University Medical School since July 1989, James also holds significant leadership positions as President of both the Foundation of the National Lipid Association and the American Board of Clinical Lipidology since 2021 and 2019, respectively. James has a strong presence in the National Lipid Association, previously serving as Past President and President. As the owner of James A. Underberg MD, PLLC since December 2018, James specializes in Clinical Lipidology. Additionally, the role of Medical Director at Bellevue Hospital Lipid Clinic has been held since January 1986. With co-founding of Lipid Designs LLC in 2010, James has contributed to the creation of educational tools for healthcare professionals. James's educational background includes a Medical Degree in Cardiovascular Disease from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and advanced degrees from Yale University in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
