Rachel Brittin serves as the Deputy Director of External Affairs at NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration since August 2023. Prior experience includes serving as Vice President of Communications at Defenders of Wildlife, leading a team focused on brand management and communication strategies for wildlife conservation from December 2019 to June 2023. Rachel also held the role of Associate Director of Communications and Content at American University, promoting over 150 events, and worked as a Communications Officer at The Pew Charitable Trusts, enhancing media relations for environmental programs. Previous positions include Corporate Communications Chief at NOAA Fisheries Service and Public Affairs Director at the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies. Rachel's career began as Communications Director at American Forests and also includes experience at World Wildlife Fund and Hollins University. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and English from Hollins University, along with a study abroad experience in London.
