Derek Slaughter

Derek Slaughter is a seasoned engineer and researcher with extensive experience in the fields of mechanical engineering and simulation. Currently serving as a Senior Researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory since July 2022, Derek previously held positions at Framatome as a Fuel Mechanical Dynamics Engineer, where critical simulations of nuclear fuel and material models were conducted, and at Industrial Process Support Services as Vice President, managing advanced finite element modeling and software development for industrial applications. Derek's background includes significant contributions to software solutions, project management, and technology adoptions across multiple roles in various companies, culminating in a robust academic foundation with a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
