Scott Rankin has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Scott began their career as an Economist at the University of Leicester in 1993. Scott then moved on to Davy, where they served as the Head of Financials Research for 15 years. During their time at Davy, they led the financial sector research team and worked on various IPOs.

In 2009, Rankin joined the Irish Department of Finance, where they held several positions. Scott started as the Department's Banking Advisor, providing advice and analysis during the financial crisis and representing the State in bank recapitalization negotiations. Scott later served as the Risk and Financial Stability Specialist and Manager of the Shareholding Management Unit.

Since 2013, Rankin has been on secondment to the NTMA, working as the Deputy Head of the Shareholding and Financial Advisory Division. In this role, they manage Ireland's banking investments, provides financial advice to the Minister for Finance, and oversees various financial initiatives, such as the sale of shares in PTSB and AIB.

Throughout their career, Rankin has demonstrated expertise in finance, banking, risk management, and crisis resolution. Scott has received recognition for their work, including being named the Extel Analyst of the year (Ireland) in 2008.

Scott Rankin completed their B.Comm degree at University College Dublin from 1989 to 1992. Scott then pursued a Masters in Economic Science at the same institution, from 1992 to 1993. In 2016, Scott attended IOB and obtained a Certified Bank Director certification. Scott furthered their education at the Irish Management Institute, completing the Change Management Programme in 2017, Managing People in 2019, and Communicating for Performance in 2021.
