Samit Chakraborty, Ph.D., CText FTI

Samit Chakraborty, Ph.D., CText FTI has a wealth of work experience. In 2012, they began working as a Merchandiser for Fakir Apparels Ltd., where they were responsible for product development, handling orders for Tom Tailor, proposing a production plan, and executing quality assurance. In 2016, they became the Founder and Proprietor of S.H.Knitwear, developing jersey, fleece and interlock fabrics for export oriented apparel manufacturing industries, using ERP software to monitor and control production, distribution and sales, and establishing sustainable uses of waste material. In 2017, they began working as a Lecturer at Daffodil International University-DIU, teaching Textile Wet Processing, Textile Raw Materials, and Apparel Merchandising, conducting lab classes, and sourcing and setting up small batch dyeing and printing machines. In 2018, they began working as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant, Project Leader, and Project Leader at NC State Wilson College of Textiles. In 2019, they began working as a Facility Operation Specialist at NC State Welness and Recreation Center and as a Chemicals and Auxiliaries R&D Intern at DyStar, where they formulated new auxiliaries, tested and evaluated products, and measured strength of raw materials and finished products. In 2021, they began working as a Data Science Intern at MANN+HUMMEL. Finally, in 2022, they began working as a Process Improvement Engineer (Machine Learning Applications) at Natural Fiber Welding.

Samit Chakraborty, Ph.D., CText FTI has a comprehensive education history. Samit obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Textile Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Textiles between 2008 and 2012. Samit then obtained a Master's degree in International Fashion Retailing from The University of Manchester between 2014 and 2015. Most recently, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Textile Technology and Management from North Carolina State University between 2018 and 2022.
