Ronnie Schlabs

Ronnie Schlabs has a diverse work experience in various roles related to animal control and welfare. Ronnie is currently the Director of Field Operations at the Nebraska Humane Society, a position they have held since June 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Animal Control Program Manager at the City of Cedar Rapids from February 2020 to June 2021. Ronnie also served as the Animal Services Manager at the City of Hutchinson Kansas from January 2019 to February 2020.

Ronnie has been associated with the Nebraska Humane Society for a significant part of their career. Ronnie worked as a Field Investigator from July 2015 to January 2019 and as an Animal Control Night Supervisor from July 2008 to October 2013. Before joining the Nebraska Humane Society, Ronnie worked as a Deputy Sheriff at the Cass County Sheriff's Office from March 2008 to July 2008.

Their early career includes roles such as an Animal Control Officer at the Nebraska Humane Society from July 2006 to March 2008, and as a Maintenance Worker at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo from May 2000 to April 2006.

In addition to their animal control and welfare roles, Ronnie also briefly worked as a Drug Technician for the State of Nebraska from September 2014 to July 2015.

Ronnie Schlabs holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Justice Administration and Crime Management, which they obtained from Bellevue University in 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the same institution in 2012. In addition to their academic qualifications, Ronnie has obtained certifications in Animal Services Executive Leadership from Southern Utah University in August 2023 and Certified Mental Health First Aid--Adult from the National Council on Mental Wellbeing in March 2023.
