Nathan van Katwyk

Nathan Van Katwyk has a diverse range of work experience in various engineering roles. Nathan is currently working as a Process Automation Engineer at NECI since November 2021. Prior to this, they were a Controls and Automation Manufacturing Development Program Engineer at Owens Corning from January 2021 to November 2021.

Nathan also has internship experience, including working as a Process Control/DCS Systems Intern at Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Detroit, MI from June 2020 to August 2020. During this internship, they gained knowledge in DCS control systems and worked with Honeywell Experion software.

In 2019, Nathan worked as a Combustion Research Assistant at the Compustion Lab, Brigham Young University, and as a Summer Intern at Flint Hills Resources. At Flint Hill Resources, they demonstrated innovation by designing and implementing a new crude tower control system and evaluating the efficiency of a new method for improving models across the refinery.

Nathan has also worked as a Teaching Assistant for Computational Tools at the Brigham Young University Chemical Engineering Department from April 2017 to April 2019, where they helped students learn programming skills in Excel, VBA, Python, and Matlab.

Nathan has internship experience at Valero Energy Corporation as an Intern - Refinery Scheduling and Models, where they optimized refinery crude and product schedules using Aspen Petroleum Scheduler and identified opportunities to improve gasoline blending scheduling accuracy.

Additionally, they have research assistant experience at the Scheduling and Control Group and RodMax Group at the PRISM Lab, where they worked on optimization and automation projects.

In 2016, Nathan worked as a Product Manager and Technical Support Director at Tech Footing, LLC, where they built support documentation, directed a team, and solved software interface issues.

From 2016 to 2020, Nathan Van Katwyk attended Brigham Young University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree with a specialization in Chemical Engineering.
