Heath Roehr has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Heath started their career as a Graduate Researcher at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they focused on empirical software engineering and meta-heuristic search algorithms. Heath then worked as a NASA Graduate Intern at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where they were involved in designing a message filtering feature for a spacecraft and conducting research on space phenomena. Heath later became a Software Engineer at Textron Aviation Defense, where they worked on avionics, electrical systems, and aircraft simulations for the Scorpion fighter aircraft. After that, they co-founded Powderhook, a company focused on providing outdoor access, and served as the Vice President of Engineering. Heath also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Powderhook. Heath then joined Nelnet Payment Services as the Senior Vice President of Solutions, developing payment products for merchants and value-added resellers. Following that, they worked at Nelnet as a Director, managing education-related products and services. Heath eventually became the Managing Director at Nelnet. Currently, they are working at Nelnet Bank as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer.

Heath Roehr holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Heath also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the same university. In addition, they obtained certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in 2006.
