Sibel Berzeg

Sibel Berzeg has more than 20 years’ experience designing, managing and evaluating a wide range of governance, civil society, media and cross-sectoral programs spanning the Middle East, Eurasia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and Africa. Sibel brings to Counterpart the valuable perspective of having worked for USAID, and for the private and non-profit sectors on international development programs, and has worked in and visited more than 100 countries. Sibel has eight years of field-based leadership experience (COP and Regional Director) in seven countries in the former Soviet Union and Kosovo. Her field-based management experience includes leading more than 130 expatriate and local staff on 50 projects in five countries. From HQ Sibel has managed 25+ simultaneous field programs and more than 350 global staff across some 36 countries, with oversight of multiple teams simultaneously, including New Business Development, Program Implementation and Program Quality and Learning.

At Present, Sibel serves as the Vice President of Program Excellence and Acquisitions for Counterpart International. In this role Sibel is responsible for growing Counterpart’s revenue and developing new business lines to expand the reach of Counterpart programs; and developing the organization’s growth strategy in partnership with senior leadership. Sibel oversees all of Counterpart’s field programs, ensuring that they are aligned with the organization’s values, mission, strategic goals and achieve the highest impact. She works to build strong partnerships with donors and peer organizations to ensure that the stakeholders of our programs are actively engaged and providing feedback that drives program innovation. Sibel’s main focus is to ensure that Counterpart’s bids and field programs are continuously strengthened through new tools and approaches that ensure timely and impactful results.
