Karen Molis

Karen oversees all the financial, accounting and IT functions of New Seasons Market and New Leaf Community Markets. As chief financial officer, she is responsible for financial analytics, budgeting, forecasting, day-to-day accounting functions, data governance and technology. Karen is passionate about driving the company’s financial direction and balancing our triple bottom line to ensure we are on the right path to growth and success.

Before she joined the New Seasons Market team, Karen was a loyal customer for eight years, discovering delicious dinner possibilities and cooking meals for her family and friends. She has nearly 25 years of accounting and finance experience, with 10 of those years in the grocery and food service industry. She joined New Seasons Market in 2014, became the VP of accounting in 2016 and was promoted to VP of finance and accounting in 2017. Before New Seasons Market, Karen earned her CPA license during the start of her career in public accounting, and worked various corporate accounting jobs before being promoted to VP of Accounting at publicly traded McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, and working as a Corporate Controller at AWS Elemental.

Karen moved to Portland from the East Coast in 2005 with her husband, Jared, so they could live a more balanced lifestyle with the opportunity to hike, run and take day trips to the mountain and coast with their three children. She is an avid runner who has completed four marathons so far and has her eyes set on a fifth. Karen loves to cook and is a big promoter of sustainable farming practices and growing the regional food economy.
