Andy Lanset

Director Of Archives at New York Public Radio

Andy Lanset has a diverse work experience in the media industry. Andy started their career in 1981 as a Reporter at WBAI, where they engaged in various newsroom activities and provided coverage for events such as the Republican National Convention in 1984. From 1986 to 1993, they worked as a Freelance Reporter and Field Engineer for public radio outlets, reporting on a wide range of topics and locations, including City Hall and the United Nations. In 1990, they established their own studio and worked as an Audio Preservationist, providing collection assessment and archival transfers for various institutions. Since 2000, Lanset has been working at New York Public Radio as the Director of Archives, where they demonstrate expertise in archival research, writing, and audio production. As the founding archivist for WNYC and WQXR, they have contributed significantly to the development and maintenance of their archives.

Andy Lanset received their B.A. in Sociology/Political Science from Purchase College, SUNY, where they studied from 1976 to 1980. Later, they pursued further education and obtained an M.S. degree in Information & Library Science from Pratt Institute, where they attended from 2002 to 2007.
