Karen Flippo is an experienced professional with a diverse background in community engagement and leadership. Since December 2018, Flippo has served as a Tour Guide for the Newport Historical Society and has been with the Newport Restoration Foundation in the same role since November 2017. Prior experience includes serving as Program Director at the Institute for Community Inclusion from January 2009 to September 2017 and as a Tour Guide for the Touro Synagogue Foundation from June 2008 to October 2012. Additionally, from 2004 to November 2011, Flippo was the Immediate Past President of the Board at CQL (The Council on Quality and Leadership) and worked as a Technical Assistance Specialist for the University of Massachusetts, Boston, ICI, from 2009 to June 2011. Previous roles also include Chief Executive Officer at NACDD from July 2003 to October 2008 and Project Director for Community Services at United Cerebral Palsy from 1996 to 1999. Flippo holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Administration from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor’s degree in Government from American University.
