Mike Smeltzer

Mike Smeltzer started their work experience in 1997 as an Assistant Vice President/Underwriting Manager at Oakmont Mortgage. Mike then worked at Global Equity Lending as the Director of Processing and Underwriting from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2008, they served as the Underwriting Manager/Channel Manager at Indymac Bank. In 2008, they joined Taylor Bean and Whitaker as an FHA Underwriter before moving to Just Mortgage Inc in 2009 for the same role. In 2010, they worked as an FHA/Conventional Underwriter at Real Estate Mortgage Network. Mike then worked at Fannie Mae as an underwriter in 2011 for a brief period. In the same year, they became an Underwriting Supervisor at SunTrust Mortgage until 2013. From 2013 to 2021, they held the role of VP Chief Credit Risk Officer at Angel Oak Funding, LLC. Currently, they serve as the SVP Non QM Product at Newrez LLC starting from June 2021.

Mike Smeltzer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bank and Finance from The University of Southern Mississippi, where they attended from 1987 to 1989.
