Brittany Novick

Clinical Research Assistant at NMMF

Brittany Novick has a diverse range of experience in the field of marine mammal care and research. Brittany started their career as an Aquarium Specialist at RMS Aquaculture, where they assisted customers with setting up and maintaining saltwater and freshwater systems. Brittany then worked as an Aquarium Construction Management Intern at The Toledo Zoo, contributing to the construction management of a major aquarium exhibit.

In 2013, Novick also gained experience as an Aquarist Intern at The Greater Cleveland Aquarium, where they were responsible for animal husbandry tasks, water quality testing, and maintaining aquarium systems.

Brittany further expanded their knowledge and skills by serving as an Animal Care and Training Intern at the US Navy Marine Mammal Program in 2014. This role involved assisting with various medical procedures, participating in training sessions, and maintaining strict veterinary diets.

Novick also worked as an Associate Aquarist at SeaWorld San Diego in 2014, where they interacted with park guests, maintained life support systems, and assisted with veterinary procedures.

Brittany'smost recent role was as a Clinical Research Assistant at the National Marine Mammal Foundation, where they contributed to ongoing research projects concerning dolphin metabolic syndrome and dolphin breath analysis. In this position, they collected and processed dolphin breath samples, as well as collected mussels for environmental contaminant testing.

Overall, Novick possesses extensive experience in marine mammal care, research, and aquarium management.

Brittany Novick obtained their Associate's Degree from Lorain County Community College, where they studied both Associates of Science and Associates of Art, from 2008 to 2011. Brittany then pursued further education at Bowling Green State University from 2012 to 2014, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Marine and Aquatic Biology.
