Jared Stephens

Jared Stephens has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as a Research Associate at the National Marine Mammal Foundation since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Consultant at Ocean Science Analytics also in 2023. From 2021 to 2022, they served as a Thesis Researcher at the University of St Andrews. Before that, Jared worked at Eckerd College, where they held multiple positions including Mathematics Tutor, Thesis Researcher, and Resident Advisor from 2018 to 2021. Jared also participated in a NOLS Wilderness Leadership Course in 2020, led a group on a 30-day expedition in Baja California, and served as Assistant Outfitting Director at Northern Tier National High Adventure Base in 2019. In 2018, they were an Outfitting Interpreter at the same organization. Jared also has a strong background in scouting, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 2017 and leading community service projects during their time with the Boy Scouts of America from 2011 to 2017.

Jared Stephens has a strong educational background in marine science and biology. Jared completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology and Mathematics at Eckerd College from 2017 to 2021. Continuing their academic pursuit, Jared enrolled in the University of St Andrews from 2021 to 2022, where they obtained a Master's of Science degree in Marine Mammal Science.

Additionally, Jared has acquired several certifications that further enhance their skills and expertise. Jared holds an FAA Drone License from the Federal Aviation Administration, obtained in November 2022. In October 2021, they earned a Level 2 Powerboat License from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). Moreover, Jared received certification in NOLS Wilderness First Aid from NOLS in July 2019. Lastly, they are a Certified Open Water Diver, having obtained this certification from PADI. Specific dates for their open water diver certification are not provided.
