Matt Carroll

Matt Carroll is a Professor of Journalism at Northeastern University since November 2016, where courses include data storytelling, and involvement extends to events addressing challenges in the news industry and mentoring students at Global Observer. Carroll has also been the Boston chapter organizer for Hacks/Hackers since June 2010, fostering connections between journalists and technologists. Prior experience includes serving as a Research Scientist at MIT’s Media Lab, where the Future of News initiative was led, alongside extensive reporting at the Boston Globe from 1987 to 2014. Early career highlights feature roles as an editor and reporter at the Boston Herald and copy editor at MetroWest Daily News, starting as co-publisher and co-editor of The Post.
