James Barron

Director, IT at Northland Control Systems, Inc.

Throughout his 20+ year career in IT, James lives at the cutting edge of new technology. From the dot com boom to being at the forefront of the cloud-hosting evolution, where he helped design and build out a large scale virtual and SAN infrastructure, James has embodied innovation. After years of working in Managed Hosting datacenters, he took the valuable lessons he learned to the corporate IT world.

When James was first introduced to Northland through a mutual friend (thank you, Henry Hoyne!) in 2013, he was immediately drawn to the core value of taking on challenges. James was no stranger to taking on challenges throughout his career and joined as the Global IT Director when the department was a hustling 1.5 people big. While in this position, he helped to build the strong foundation upon which today’s company is built.

After taking a brief hiatus to support the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative as a Northland embedded Application Engineer, he’s back to continue his mission of overseeing Northland’s IT department and doing whatever it takes to raise the bar. In his role, James will be managing the IT team and the services that Northland provides around the world with a goal of making technology as helpful and frustration-free for all.
