Nancy Herman is the current Executive Director of the NAH Foundation at Norwegian American Hospital. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Advancement for the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago from January 2007 to July 2013. In this role, they were responsible for reinvigorating philanthropy, maximizing resources, engaging alumni, and strengthening fundraising strategy and execution for the nationally top-ranked College of Nursing with four regional sites in Illinois.
During their time at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Nancy raised an average of $1.5 - $1.8 million per year in cash, pledges, and planned gifts. Some of their largest gifts include a Foundation gift of $600,000, a Bequest of $400,000, and an IRA of $250,000. Nancy also independently managed a portfolio of 150 major, planned, foundation, and corporate donors. Nancy transformed donor relations and communications strategy through creative redesign of the alumni magazine and positioning of consistent and strategic messaging across multiple channels. In addition, they provided leadership and training for college administration, faculty, staff, and alumni volunteers to embrace development roles and build a sustainable culture of philanthropy.
After their time at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Nancy served as Vice President of Development / Chief Philanthropy Officer at Humboldt Park Health (formerly Norwegian American Hospital) from February 2017 to August 2021.
Nancy Herman attended Lake Forest College for their undergraduate degree, where they studied art history. Nancy then attended Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where they obtained their Doctor of Law (JD) degree.
