Matthew Murphy has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Matthew has worked at Nova Scotia Health Authority since 2015, holding positions such as Chief Data Officer, Senior Director of Strategy and Performance, and Director of Performance, Analytics, and Accountability. In 2020, they also worked as a Sessional Lecturer at Dalhousie University. Prior to that, they worked at the Guysborough Antigonish Strait Health Authority, where they held roles as District Coordinator for Risk Management and Decision Support, Community Health Planner, and Cardiovascular Health Nova Scotia District Coordinator. Additionally, they have experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at Dalhousie University and as a Drug Use Management and Policy Resident at IMPART - Dalhousie Pharmacy/Family Medicine.
Matthew Murphy completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Psychology (Hons) from Dalhousie University in the years 2001 to 2005. Matthew later pursued a Master of Applied Health Services Research degree from the same university between 2009 and 2012. In terms of additional certifications, Matthew obtained the Legal aspects of healthcare administration certification from Dalhousie University in November 2013, and the Risk management and patient safety certification from CPSI / CHA in October 2013.
