Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro is a leading autonomous technology company with vehicles on road today in California and Texas. The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.

About the Role

  • Enable and optimize the use of new sensors, embedded controllers and relevant electrical components on autonomous robots or vehicle platforms
  • Design algorithms to control robot functions and perform processing on sensor data
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software engineers during the definition, design, and verification phases
  • Participate in hands-on vehicle bringup, prototyping, testing, and debugging on multiple robots or vehicle platforms
  • Work closely with other Nuro autonomy software teams and OEM vendors to integrate embedded software into the self driving software stack and manage firmware release processes.

About You

  • Strong C programming skills
  • Good computer science fundamentals, e.g. data structures, concurrency and algorithm design
  • Good understanding of operating system internals, e.g. kernel or driver knowledge
  • Good problem solving and debugging skills
  • Good communication skills
  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering , or closely related field
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with real-time OS and real-time applications
  • Experience with ARM-based SOC architecture
  • Experience with device driver development.
  • Experience with CAN, SPI and Networking protocols.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $152,000 and $228,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
