James Mellor has a diverse work experience in the finance industry. James started their career at Capital One in 2008 where they worked as a Business Analyst in the Retail Deposits team. James was responsible for portfolio monitoring, product valuation, bond pricing, and acquisition channel strategy. After that, they became a Senior Business Analyst at Capital One where they rotated roles across Retail Deposits, Prime/Super Prime Credit Cards, and Risk Operations. In this role, they were responsible for credit card product design, commercial valuations, and market strategy. James also worked closely with the Decision Science team to construct underwriting scorecards and predictive models. James successfully launched new Prime products and became the owner of Credit Risk Governance.

In 2014, James joined Oakbrook Finance as a Credit Risk Manager. James helped establish the Analytics function and managed a team of analysts. James also played a key role in the launch of Likely Loans and oversaw the creation of the first Decision Engine for loan applications and data warehouse. After that, they became the Head of Marketing Analysis at Oakbrook Finance. James created and established the marketing analytics reporting function and successfully launched advertising campaigns and negotiated deals with lead generators. James also contributed to significant growth in lending volumes.

Later, James Mellor was promoted to Head of Commercial Analysis at Oakbrook Finance. In this role, they built and led the Commercial Analysis function and provided Finance Partnering across the business. James developed expertise in structured finance deals and successfully completed refinancing deals, reducing the company's cost of funds.

James Mellor has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics from Loughborough University. James also holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Industrial Mathematical Modelling from the same university. Additionally, they have obtained an Executive Diploma in Digital Business from The ADBL (Academy of Digital Business Leaders).
