Jithendra Vepa

Jithendra Vepa is the current Chief Scientist at Observe.AI. Jithendra has over 18 years of experience in the field of speech technology.

Jithendra started their career as a Research & Development Engineer with Rhetorical Systems Ltd in the U.K. In this role, they worked on developing algorithms for automatic speech recognition (ASR). Jithendra then went on to complete their PhD in Speech Technology from the University of Edinburgh.

After their PhD, Jithendra joined IDIAP Research Institute as a Research Scientist. In this role, they worked on ASR development for the AMI project, and also participated in NIST RT evaluations. Jithendra then moved to Philips Research, where they worked as a Senior Research Scientist. Jithendra's research here was focused on biomedical signal processing, and they developed algorithms for noise cancellation, segmentation and classification of biomedical signals.

In November 2009, Jithendra joined Samsung Research & Development India as a Senior Principal Engineer. Jithendra built the speech technology team from the ground up, and developed ASR and text-to-speech systems for Samsung’s flagship products. Jithendra was with Samsung for almost 9 years, before moving to their current role as Chief Scientist at Observe.AI.

Jithendra Vepa received their PhD in Speech synthesis and speech signal processing from the University of Edinburgh, U.K. Jithendra also holds an M.Sc(Engg.) in Electrical Engg., Signal Processing from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engg., from Andhra University. Jithendra Vepa is also a Senior Member of the IEEE.
