Marcus Harris has extensive work experience in the energy industry. Marcus began their career at SCANA Corporation in 1991, where they held various roles in engineering, operations, planning, and marketing until 2008. From 2008 to 2013, they served as the Director of Power Marketing at SCANA Corporation. From 1991 to 2014, they were the General Manager of Renewable Products and Services. In 2014, they joined Kansas Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. as the Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer. Finally, in 2018, they became the President and CEO of Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC).

Marcus Harris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, which they attended from 1989 to 1994. Marcus then pursued a Master of Engineering degree in Engineering and Business at the same institution, completing it in 1995. Additionally, Marcus took a Nuclear Reactor Technology Course for Utility Executives at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, although the specific years of their attendance are unknown.
