POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Vice-President, Events is responsible for the professional development of student trustees across Ontario. Their primary role is planning and coordinating conferences and other professional development activities for student trustees across Ontario.

As a non-voting member of the leadership team, they shall:

  • Be responsible for planning and executing the regular conferences of OSTA-AECO, including the Annual General Meeting, Fall General Meeting, and the Education Action Conference.
  • Be the primary liaison between OSTA-AECO and venues hosting our activities.
  • Along with their department, coordinate any other professional development activities for OSTA-AECO at the leadership team's direction.
  • Maintain a line of communication between the Learning and Development department and the leadership team.
  • Act as a point of contact between OSTA-AECO and client school boards for conferences.
  • Actively engage the OSTA-AECO general assembly for feedback on the organization's professional development activities.
  • Uphold OSTA’s values as outlined in the Code of Conduct to foster a safe and healthy working environment

REQUIRED SKILLS

The following skills are strongly recommended for the following position. Note, candidates need not have direct experience with these skills, however, they should show a keen interest in developing them.

  • Experience hosting medium to large scale corporate-style events and conferences.
  • Adept organization and time management skills.
  • Communication and leadership skills to lead teams in hosting events.
  • Basic technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.

*Fluctuates, heavily increasing during conference seasons and decreasing during off-seasons.
