Kirsten Steinke

Kirsten Steinke, Ph.D., currently serves as a Staff Writer for Orange Media Network since October 2021, while simultaneously holding positions as an International Affairs and Policy Fellow at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and as a NOAA Knauss Marine Policy Fellow, both starting in January 2024. Prior experience includes roles as a Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at Oregon State University from September 2018 to November 2023, and as a Field Technician at the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife from May 2018 to September 2018, as well as a Naturalist at California State University, Monterey Bay in early 2017. Dr. Steinke earned a Ph.D. in Ocean Ecology and Biogeochemistry from Oregon State University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography from Western Washington University.
