Launch Vehicle AIT Engineer at Orbex Space

Luis Salaverria has over 13 years of professional experience in the aerospace and energy industries. In 2008, they began working as an Electric Corrective Action Team Design Engineer for Labinal on the Boeing 787. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as a Photovoltaics Systems Engineer for eFutura S.A. de C.V. During this time, they designed, assembled, tested and installed over 300 stand-alone photovoltaic systems. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Solid Propulsion Research Engineer for SV Aerospace, where they established the first solid propellant rocket research and development program in El Salvador. During this time, they also served as the Co-Founder and President of the El Salvador Aerospace Institute. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as the Chief Aeronautical Engineer for the Civil Aviation Authority of El Salvador. In this role, they were responsible for field approvals related to aircraft modification/alteration or repairs and maintained and interpreted up-to-date technical documentation regarding all aircraft, engines, propellers and related systems registered in El Salvador. From 2014 to 2018, they worked as a Lecturer and Researcher at the Universidad Don Bosco, where they taught basic theory of internal combustion engines, piston engines and turbine engines for aviation maintenance students. From 2018 to 2022, they worked as a Liquid Propulsion Research Engineer and Suborbital Launch Vehicle Engineer for SV Aerospace. In this role, they developed a 6DOF trajectory simulation, including codes for calculating aerodynamic coefficients, aerodynamic heating and re-entry dynamics. Currently, they are working as a Launch Vehicle AIT Engineer for Orbex.

Luis Salaverria obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University between 2004 and 2007. In 2016, they attended the 2016 KARI International Space Training at the Korean Aerospace Research Institute in the field of Space Systems Engineering. In 2017, they attended the UNISEC - Cansat Leader Training Program at Nihon University in the field of Space Systems Engineering.
