Oliver Turnbull has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of engineering and space exploration. Oliver started their career as an IT Support at Montagu Evans in 2003 and then transitioned to become a Space Systems Engineer at Systems Engineering and Assessment Ltd in 2009. From 2011 to 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant in Optimization for Air Traffic Management at the University of Bristol, where they focused on developing optimization models for conflict-free trajectory generation.
Oliver then became a Teaching and Research Fellow at the University of Bristol from 2013 to 2015, where they lectured undergraduate courses and supervised various projects. During this time, they also worked on simulation and modeling activities as a Senior Project Engineer at Deimos Space. Their projects included optimizing vertical launch trajectories and simulating the dynamics and kinematics of the ExoMars landing platform.
In 2019, Oliver joined the UK Space Agency as a Mission Safety Analyst, where they developed tools to assess launch license applications and provided technical support to projects across the agency. Currently, they are working as a Launch Vehicle Systems Engineer at Orbex, starting in 2020.
Throughout their career, Oliver has demonstrated expertise in systems engineering, optimization modeling, simulation, and project management in the field of space exploration and engineering.
Oliver Turnbull completed their education at the University of Bristol, where they earned a PhD in Engineering Mathematics from 2004 to 2008. Prior to obtaining their PhD, they obtained a MEng degree in Avionics Systems from the same university from 2000 to 2004. Before attending the University of Bristol, Oliver attended Maidstone Grammar School, although the specific years they spent there and the degree or field of study they pursued are unknown.
