Sophia Cossette

Sophia Cossette is an experienced education reporter currently working with the Catalyst Journalism Project at the University of Oregon School of Journalism & Communications since October 2023. Previously, Sophia held various roles at the Emerald Media Group, including Opinion Column Editor, Opinion Column Associate Editor, and Opinion Columnist. Sophia completed a summer internship as a news reporter with the Pamplin Media Group, where community reporting focused on city council, police, sports, transportation, regional heritage, and local entertainment. Prior experience includes working as a Social Media and Website Content Intern at State Farm®, as well as serving as an Administrative Assistant at Anthony Associates and Alterre Partners, and as an Assistant Volleyball Coach at Club Kalani Volleyball. Sophia is pursuing a degree at the University of Oregon, having also studied at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, where a Higher National Diploma in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs was earned. Education was completed at Oakland Technical High School.
